And the adventure begins

“You best start believin’ in ghost stories, Miss Turner, you’re in one.” –Captain Barbossa

Adventures are generally positive experiences, yet often contain their share of chaos and unpredictability.

It’s at that point of craziness when I think of the line in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl when Captain Barbossa says, “You best start believin’ in ghost stories, Miss Turner, you’re in one!”

Cue the look of horror on Elizabeth Swann’s (Turner) face from the movie, and that’s about the look I feel is on my face. The look that says I’m terrified and have absolutely no idea what is going to happen next.

And once I get past that look, I let the panic subside and determine what my next steps are.

I’m currently in the middle of my latest adventure which is starting this website. I’ve been contemplating the move from my current website to WordPress for quite some time, and for whatever reason, I decided now was the right time to make the leap. While I am enjoying learning something new and different, I’m also failing right and left.

“Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.” –Winston Churchill

It’s scary and thrilling at the same time to fail. I keep reminding myself that with each failure comes the wisdom of learning something from it so that I don’t continue to make the same mistakes over and over. This is great in theory, but I also get frustrated and am prone to making repeated mistakes.

It’s a vicious cycle, that’s for sure.

But I’m also excited! Very excited. By making this leap, I’m upping my game by taking myself more seriously as a writer. I’m getting out of my comfort zone to give myself an opportunity to reach a wider audience with my message of simple living through daily experiences.

So, here’s to the beginning of a new adventure!
